Patrick Willard normally wrestles 215 for Providence, but on Wednesday, Jan 17,
vs. Myers Park he wrestled HWT. Providence had 2 guys at 215 or below so they
had a choice going into the final 2 matches as to where to put each guy. They put
Larry Shaheen, who has wrestled HWT every match this year for them, at 215.
He lost 5-2 and so Myers Park led 35-30 going into the final match. Patrick only
weighs about 205 and the Myers Park guy was at least 240. Patrick was trailing
4-1 in the 2nd period when he was thrown off the mat and onto the wooden gym
floor. You could hear him screaming in pain. Then, fans began to clap their hands
together and stomp their feet and up Patrick came. Within 10 seconds of the
whistle he took down the Myers Park wrestler and pinned him for a stunning 36-35
victory for Providence. It was the 1st time that Providence had ever beat Myers Park.
